My First Attempt: Stuffed Green Peppers

When I was little, the thought of eating Stuffed Green Peppers made me run around and circles, throw myself on the floor and beg my mom not to make them. I remember her making them and being completely grossed out. However I now realize that I did not inherit my inability to cook from dad, that is all I will say about that. Now that I am celiac, I have to reexamine my own tastes for various foods. I am willing to try anything, EXCEPT eggs and liver. GROSS

I am 34, a masters graduate, and pretty intelligent, so I should be able to make this simple dish. Yeah, not so fast.

So I made this dish, I screwed up the directions and burned myself once. I am still not sure when I did that but for the most part it was a success.

Here is what I did, feel free to do it right. I got the recipe from the fix it and forget it recipe book.

You need,

5 to 6 Bell Pepper
1 1/2 cups of cooked rice
1/2 cup of onions
1Tbl of Worcestershire
8ounces of tomato sauce
1tps of salt
1/2 tps of pepper
1/4 Beef Broth
1 pound of ground beef

I am going to have to experiment with this one.

I cut the tops of the green peppers and cleaned them out. Then I boiled them for 5 minutes.

I browned the ground beef and onions and drained all the fat.

I mixed all the ingredients that was left. Now this is wrong. I was suppose to mix the tomato sauce and beef broth and drizzle it over the final product. I am not a good listener or a comprehensive reader obviously.

I filled the green peppers with the meat mixture.

I then put it in the crock pot and cook it on medium for 3 hours. I poured some beef broth on the bottom because I thought it would be better.

So after 3 hours, I checked on it and it did not look like the pictures. So I put them all in the oven and let it cook for 20 minutes at 350.

The final product tasted pretty descent. Although my husband said it was bland and made a strange face when eating it. My youngest son threw it in the garbage when he thought I was not looking. The middle two kids ate it quietly.

Even though I screwed up on this one, I think I am on the right track.

The Final Product:
